The Struggle

Like fierce animals
struggling to be free, wild kites
tug at their restraints.

Kites always make me think of "The Kite Runner" now, which is a book I cannot stand. I'm mad I ever read it because it's ruined the beauty, and the freedom, of kites for me.

I'll try to regain my perspective with your lovely poem and posted artwork.

Oh, dear! I've never heard you say you couldn't stand a book before! Although it is a tragic story, I still think The Kite Runner is beautifully and powerfully written.

For me, that story epitomizes the depravity of man. There is no excuse for turning your back on an atrocity being committed to anyone, let alone your dearest friend. I have a terrible sense of right and wrong, which I unjustly apply to others, and some things are unforgiveable to me.

Also, I can't understand most of the Middle Eastern mindset (caste system, men degrading women, etc.)at all.
